Zusammenfassung
Die Entwicklung, die Operationstechnik und die heutigen Indikationen der Silikonölchirurgie
werden beschrieben und die mit diesem Verfahren erreichbaren Ergebnisse werden anhand
einer Serie von 500 Patienten dargestellt. Die postoperativen Probleme (Katarakt,
Glaukom und Keratopathie) werden analysiert und Richtlinien zur Reduzierung der Komplikationsrate
werden erstellt.
Summary
On the basis of a series of 500 patients the authors describe the development of silicone
oil surgery, the surgical technique, and present-day indications for it, as well as
the results that can be achieved with this procedure. The postoperative problems (cataract,
glaucoma, and keratopathy) are analyzed and guidelines presented for reducing the
complication rate.
